Ms. Keenan is a partner in the Employee Benefits Group at Ivins, Phillips & Barker. During the past decade, as pension plan fiduciaries have faced an increasingly broad and novel range of investment opportunities, she has advised some of the nation’s largest (and some of its smallest) pension funds on the ERISA and tax consequences of those investments. Ms. Keenan helps the firms’ ERISA plan clients negotiate the structure of alternative investment vehicles of all types, including onshore and offshore hedge funds, private equity funds, real estate funds, infrastructure funds, group and bank collective trusts.
She also advises plan sponsors and other fiduciaries with respect to their fiduciary obligations and compliance procedures. While concentrating her practice primarily in the pension investment area, she has maintained her expertise in all aspects of qualified and welfare plans.
Ms. Keenan was a Dillard Fellow at the University of Virginia, where she received her J.D. in 1983 and was named to the Order of the Coif. She graduated from the College of William & Mary, cum laude in 1974, receiving an A.B.
