Ivins Attorney Presents at BNA CITE International Tax Seminar

On December 7, 2011, Ivins attorney John Bates presented at the BNA CITE Intermediate International Tax Seminar in Washington, DC on the topic of the Taxation of Foreign Currency Transactions.  The seminar included detailed presentations regarding a variety of areas of international tax law.  Mr. Bates’ presentation provided an overview of the rules of Subpart J (sections 985 to 989), which govern the U.S. federal income taxation of foreign currency transactions.  It covered the treatment of foreign currency financial instruments and foreign exchange risk hedging transactions and highlighted planning opportunities and potential traps for the unwary.
