Former IRS Attorney Shad Fagerland Rejoins IPB's Noted Benefits PracticePDF
Ivins, Phillips & Barker is pleased to announce that Shad Fagerland has rejoined the firm's noted Benefits and Compensation team as Of Counsel in the Washington, D.C. office. Shad will bring additional depth to our strong Health & Welfare practice. He spent three years in the IRS Office of Chief Counsel, drafting regulations and guidance on issues such as the Affordable Care Act's employer shared responsibility provisions, reporting on healthcare coverage on Forms 1094-C and 1095-C, and coverage vehicles such as health reimbursement arrangements (HRAs) and health savings accounts (HSAs).
In addition to counseling clients on all aspects of health & welfare plan design and administration, Shad represents employers facing IRS audits or investigations, particularly those related to Letter 226-J. He also has broad experience with qualified retirement plans and employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs).
Prior to spending time in private practice and government service at the IRS, Shad was an associate with IPB from 2001-2002.
