Harry L. “Hank” Gutman Honored by Texas Federal Tax Institute as a 2026 “Legend of Tax.”

Ivins, Phillips & Barker is pleased to share that Harry L. “Hank” Gutman was honored by the Texas Federal Tax Institute as a 2026 “Legend of Tax.”

The Texas Federal Tax Institute has honored two tax professionals annually since 2011 as “Legends of Tax.” The interview series has been described as “perhaps the most complete chronicle anywhere of the practice and events of the federal tax law in the United States over the last 50+ years.” Hank was featured in the Tax Legends Luncheon interview, which cited him as “one of the most influential figures in modern tax policy… from advising Congress as Chief of Staff of the Joint Committee on Taxation to shaping Treasury guidance as Deputy Tax Legislative Counsel, teaching at leading law schools and practicing tax law at leading law firms.”

IPB’s Eric Solomon was previously honored as a “Legend of Tax” in 2015.
