Chambers and Partners has released its 2021 Chambers USA guide to top US lawyers and firms, recognizing IPB attorneys Les Schneider, Kevin O'Brien, Jodi Epstein, and Steve Witmer.

Les Schneider, co-head of the IPB Tax practice, (also ranked by the Chambers Global Guide) has been recognized as among the premier US tax attorneys since the inception of the Chambers guides. The editors note that  Les "is held in high regard for his vast knowledge of tax accounting." One of his clients commented that, "He is very responsive, very knowledgeable and an expert in his field," and another noted that, "He provides written analysis that is convincing and easy to follow."

Kevin O'Brien, head of our Benefits & Compensation practice, has also been recognized by Chambers for many years. This year they remark that he "provides advice on high-level plan design, administration and compliance issues." One client notes that, "He is very smart and incredibly creative," and another says, "He is very thorough, very assertive and a strong advocate."

Chambers reports that our Benefits & Compensation partner Jodi Epstein "offers particular expertise advising on qualified benefit plans." Clients say, "She understands the practical realities and is able to give hands-on, practical advice," and "She is very knowledgeable in the tax field and has good judgment."

Steve Witmer, also a partner in our Benefits & Compensation practice, is singled out as "a go-to adviser for preeminent clients on a range of employee benefits and executive compensation matters, including those arising out of corporate transactions." A client comments, "He has a wealth of knowledge so he can give you an answer on the spot and makes the rules very easy to understand," while another says, "In addition to his subject matter expertise and negotiating skills, he provides sound, practical advice."

In addition to these individual accolades, Chambers USA also recognized IPB's Tax practice, praising a team that, "Demonstrates strength across a number of sub-practice areas, including tax controversy and accounting methods,"and a client notes, "The team has deep experience and is very client-focused." Our Benefits & Compensation practice was also highlighted, with Chambers sources saying "They understand an employer's needs and provide great support." One client comments, "They are subject matter experts with respect to industry standards and very skilled negotiators with the ability to get the best possible deal for us."
